Our History

Honoring Community Ties

Family-owned and operated, Window Box Florist is helmed by Dan Hinson, his wife Vippi, and their daughter Sarah. After decades in accounting and construction following service in the United States Marine Corps, Dan entered the floral business. With years of regimented discipline and extensive planning under his belt, Dan knew he was ready to explore the unique and compelling art of floristry. Flowers are excellent communicators with the capability to transform moments and make them more memorable, something Dan knows is extremely powerful.

Dan assumed the reins of two flower shops: Window Box Florist in Pearland, previously owned by the Garden family since 1985, and Mainland Floral in Galveston, previously owned by the Mail family since 1935. Now under one trusted name, Window Box Florist provides the top-level customer service set in place so many years ago - bolstered by the addition of Dan's talented team of artistic floral designers.

Dan and his family are deeply invested in the local community and prioritize service in several capacities. Window Box Florist works with local veterans via the Marine Corps League, ensuring that these venerable men and women receive the honor and care they need. Dan is also active in the Rotary Club of Galveston Island, currently serving as President-Elect. Dan, Vippi, and Sarah also hold the Boys & Girls Club and Meals on Wheels close to their hearts, rounding out their commitment to keeping their community strong.

When you work with Window Box Florist, you're partnering with a business that is committed to the region they love. Combined with their excellent, experienced team and premium, high-end flowers, Window Box Florist promises to deliver the best in every customer experience.
